Forums: Troubleshooting and Problems
Hi Narasimha,
Community installer does not currently support custom installation paths. The document path is not configurable at this time but we are investigating adding this feature in the future.
We recommend keeping all Community folders in their original locations after the installation. Moving them can cause issues with running the application, using its metadata and getting updates.
This "feature" is needed, simply because not giving the option to change the installation path create assumptions, like the following path is assumed to exist on all machines:
%systemdrive%/users/%username%/My documents
When in some instances it does not.
Thanks
Craig
Since you attribute this issue to the installer, is it true that we could install to any desired path if we were building it from source?
Hi Ryan,
You can try to modify these path settings from source code.
We cannot guarantee functionality after such modification, because that situation wasn't tested by our team. We consider adding custom installation path as a GUI option in the future.
Another option is using Community CLI as it's a more portable solution. You can put CLI jar file together with configs folders in any folder and run validations there using the command line.
You can find more information on where to retrieve the CLI jar file and some sample validation requests here:

Thanks,
Philipp
This is great news; in fact, integrating the CLI into our workflow is my main goal in the first place! Thanks very much for your response.
Hello,
I was wondering when we install Pinnacle 3.0 can we get all the folders in one location similar to previous versions as some of them are copied to personal folders. Also anyone who uses this should install as well. Thanks a lot.
Narasimha.
