OpenCDISC Community 2.0 - Validator hangs on "Starting".

Using Community 2.0 - Validator. Select SDTM and pick XPT files. Click the "Validate" button. New window opens and says "Starting". Nothing happens. Application is hung.

Launch Task Manager. Kill Community application. Switch to Processes view in Task Manager.

Restart Community again doing the same things while watching Processes in Task Manager. Saw JAVA process start runing the CLI JAR file. It only lived for 2 seconds and disappeared.

Please provide help in either resolving or debuging.

You've probably had this resolved by now, but in case you haven't...

I had the same problem, which turned out to be a folder permissions issue. Once I had write access to the folders it was fine. I'm guessing it's just the components\logs and components\reports folders, but I had the restrictions relaxed on the whole directory.

Yes. I did figured it out. Under the COMPONENTS subfolder, there are 2 subfolders that need to have permissions relaxed. These folders may not exist after the install, but they'll definitely be created upon 1st execution.

The folders are LOGS & REPORTS. These are owned by the either the application installer or the 1st person to run the application. Again not sure of when they get created. The permissions on these folders don't allow any other non-superuser to create/modify files -- only the folder owner can create/modify files in these folders. And this is where JAVA dies.

Solution is to have the installer create the folders during the final IQ steps, if they don't exist. Then the installer needs to relax the security on those 2 folders.
