P21 3.0 Install – Creates large user profiles over 200mb

We have downloaded the latest release of P21 3.0 to begin validation and testing for production release. I’ve been conducting testing on the installation of the new release. This installation is totally different then past installs because it writes multiple files into user profiles. User profiles will grow to around 200mb or larger just from Pinnacle21 (not including other files that may be stored in user profiles) so this is an issue we need to address. Unfortunately the default install of this release will not work in our shared server desktop environment. The user profile size increase caused by the P21 3.0 installation consumes large amounts space on servers Drive C: causing space issues. We install commonly used software on servers and share the desktops out via Citrix XenApp which manages what is called “roaming” user profiles with a 200mb quota. Roaming profiles are removed from the servers when the user logs off and saves the profile to central file share. Roaming profiles allow the user preferences and customizations to follow the user from server to server so when a user logs into another server the profile is downloaded to that shared server desktop.

Is there a way we can modify the default installation to match the older releases?

We need to configure the installation so that all users access the default location of SDTM, ADaM, MedDRA, NDF-RT, SNOMED, etc. from the installation directories shown below:

Update the following to have all possible previous versions:

D:\Pinnacle21 Community\resources\app.asar.unpacked\components\lib\configs\data\CDISC\SDTM

D:\Pinnacle21 Community\resources\app.asar.unpacked\components\lib\configs\data\CDISC\ADaM

D:\Pinnacle21 Community\resources\app.asar.unpacked\components\lib\configs\data\MedDRA

The default installation copies all the files in the directories above to each user’s profile creating large user profiles over 200mb each.

Hi Nancy,

The installer we currently use doesn’t allow the user to choose the installation directory. We are looking at a few options that would allow for a better server install – either by changing the installer or by some other mechanism. We do not have a timeline for this yet; we are still evaluating the best action to take.
