Forums: General Discussion
Hello Mathias,
Sorry for the inconvenience! The Community 3.0.2 app expires after half a year of being offline. It can also be expired if you install offline a version that was released half a year ago or earlier. The same applied to Community 3.0.0. The timer will reset and validations wouldn't fail if you connect to the Internet.
Internet connection is required to automatically keep your installation up-to-date with the latest versions of CDISC terminology, UNII, NDF-RT, and validation engines. When Internet connection is not available or limited, Community will quickly become outdated and may produce validation results that are no longer compatible with regulatory agencies.
Is the Internet connection restricted or limited for Community in your environment?
Thanks,
Philipp
Hi Philipp,
Thanks for your response. We do have internet connection. However, the machine is behind a firewall. Could you please let me know the communication ports which needs to be open for Pinnacle to connect to internet?
Regards,
Mathias
I would recommend whitelisting inbound/outbound TCP protocol traffic in port 443 for Community executable files.
In regular desktop installation these files are:
Main Community 3.0.2 Application file
C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Programs\pinnacle21-community\Pinnacle 21 Community.exe
Java executable file (for 64-bit systems)
C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Programs\pinnacle21-community\resources\app.asar.unpacked\components\java64\bin\java.exe
Java executable file (for 32-bit systems)
C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Programs\pinnacle21-community\resources\app.asar.unpacked\components\java32\bin\java.exe
Hi Phillip,
Thank you very much for the information. Unfortunately, there is still some problem in connecting to the internet. There is proxy connection setup for internet access. And I'm able to browse to Pinnacle web portal (also download packages from Pinnacle21). However, the Pinnacle 3.0.2 application is not able to connect to internet. How can I configure Pinnacle to work over proxy internet connection?
Thanks in advance,
Mathias
Hi Mathias,
Unfortunately, Community 3.0.2 doesn't support proxy connection setup.
Please reinstall the app using the latest Community installer. You can download it here:
https://www.pinnacle21.com/downloads
Validations will work again after reinstallation.
However, to avoid similar expiration issues in the future and to ensure that you receive all the latest updates, I would recommend using a direct Internet connection for our app.
Thanks,
Philipp
Hi Philipp,
Thank you very much for you response. I was able to reinstall and get Pinnacle working, by directly downloading and installing with internet connection. But if the server is offline, I'm afraid it will cause the same problem again after few months. Is there a portable version planned any time in future?
Regards,
Mathias
Mathias,
Thank you for following up. Although we do not currently have plans to support proxy connections or an off-line version of Community, we are working on a way to give instructions for whitelisting our traffic through firewalls so that Community can connect to the internet in order to function.
Community requires an internet connection to access the latest versions of CDISC terminology, UNII, NDF-RT, and validation engines. Without those updates, validation results quickly fall out of compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
Please let me know if there is anything more I can do to help,
Rob
Dear Support,
I have Pinnacle 3.0.2 installed on Windows 2012R2. After few months (probably 3months), the validation does not work with the error message "Error Code 61: System Installation Qualification Error". This exactly happened with the earlier version 3.0.0 as well. I've attached the screenshot for reference. Could you please let me know if there is any expiration on the installation?
Best regards,
Mathias
