using Define.xml Designer tool to convert Define-XML 1.0 into the new Define-XML 2.0

we are in the process of converting define-xml 1.0 to 2.0. Below is the process I have used but please let me know if there is any other more automated process

1) create define.xml 2.0 using the imported data

2) import the previous 1.0 xml version to p21e and compare the differences between 1.0 and 2.0 (created using the imported data, please note this version will not have 'methods' 'comments' etc)

3) export the differences to excel file and keep the ones we need and delete the ones not needed. 

4) import back the updated excel file to p21e to finalize the define

this involves manual processing to some extent and wondering if there is more automated process.
