I'm trying to create the Excel Specification by first extracting metadata from SAS XPORT SDTM datasets.

I am using the latest community version.  The part that I am talking about is the Define.xml tab > Create Spec. The configuration I am using is SDTM 3.3.

I put 30 datasets and only get Excel Specification with DM metadata, other datasets not in Excel Specification.

how does this happen? no error information about this situation and is there any requirements for XPT dataset and why P21 only recognize DM dataset?

Can someone help me get Pinnacle to extract the metadata from my XPORT file? I'd be happy to provide any information that can help you help me!

Thanks!

Hi Yihong,

Please confirm that you have one dataset per XPT file.

Thank you,
Sergiy

yes, I put 30 xpt datasets in P21,and P21 only recognize 1 dataset.I found out this was caused by Chinese character in XPT dataset, could P21 use XPT dataset contain Chinese charcter to Create Excel Specification?

Did the chinese characters appear in the (minimal) metadata part (see the TS-140 specification of SAS-XPT) or in the clinical data part of the XPT files?
Once again a very nice demonstration that SAS Transport (as well version 5 as version 8) XPT was never designed for non-US-ASCII characters, and should already have been banned at least 10 years ago.
You can also try with other software offerings that generate a prototype define.xml and then allow to add/change/improve the metadata in a very user-friendly (GUI with wizards) way.
It is high time that regulatory authorities move to modern formats such as CDISC own's Dataset-XML or Dataset-JSON.

Hi Yihong

So you have 30 XPT files. Each of them includes only a single SAS dataset with the same name as a name of XPT file. For example, ae.xpt includes only ae dataset.

Is it SAS XPORT v5 or v8?

What Encoding do you use?

Thank you,
Sergiy

thank you both, I use UTF-8 encoding and upload new XPT , P21 can recognize 30 xpt datasets now.
